Advantages of our Magnetic Compounds

The material is processed using modified injection molding systems fitted with special tools. If magnetic fields are applied directly in the tool, it is possible to magnetize the workpiece in a variety of different ways (axial, radial, multipole, etc.) during the production process itself. It is, of course, also possible to magnetize the workpiece after production.

We offer an extensive range of different grades with a variety of magnetic properties to suit your particular application. You are welcome to talk to us and we will be happy to help you choose the right material and advise you on using it.

» Ferrite-bonded magnetic compounds for injection molding

The ferrite bonded magnetic compound from Mate's HM Series is a magnetic material that can be shaped by injection molding in the same way as plastic. This material is a compound of isotropic or anisotropic magnetic materials and thermoplastics (PA12, PA6, PPS etc.) and can be injection molded to produce complex and delicate structures.

Features:

  1. The material is more resistant to cracking and chipping than sintered magnets.
  2. Because products are manufactured by injection molding, there are virtually no restrictions on the shapes that can be produced. Mechanical reworking of the finished part is generally not required.
  3. You can choose from a variety of base materials: nylon, PPS, elastomers etc. Please contact us if you wish to use a different polymer.

» Neodymium (isotropic): Neodymium bonded magnetic compounds for injection molding

Magnets manufactured from the rare-earth material neodymium have a magnetic force several times that of ferrite bonded magnets. This makes it possible to manufacture smaller, lighter products with the same magnetic force.

Features:

  1. Its high magnetic force makes the material suitable for injection molding, and its high dimensional stability means that it is suitable for high-precision parts.
  2. Because it is isotropic, expensive magnetic field molding machines and tools are not required. Parts are relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

» Neodymium (anisotropic): Anisotropic neodymium bonded magnetic compounds for injection molding

Magnets manufactured from anisotropic neodymium bonded compound have a far greater magnetic force than conventional bonded magnets. They can achieve a BH (max) of up to 120 kJ/m³ and can be used to replace some sintered products.

Features:

  1. When used in combination with magnetic field injection-molding techniques, it achieves the highest magnetic forces of all bonded magnets.
  2. This opens up a range of impressive magnetic properties.

» Samarium-cobalt: Samarium-cobalt bonded magnetic compounds for injection molding

Suitable for applications in high-temperature environments or which have special requirements with respect to thermal stability, as it is resistant to thermal demagnetization and is less liable to fluctuations in the magnetic force with changing temperatures. Samarium-cobalt magnets are also a good choice for products that are intended to have a long service life.

Features:

  1. Less fluctuation of the magnetic force with changing temperatures.

» Hybrid bonded magnetic compounds

Magnets made from neodymium and ferrite compound achieve magnetic forces of the same magnitude as sintered ferrite magnets (10 – 30 kJ/m³) at acceptable costs.

Features:

  1. Magnetic force is higher than with ferrite bonded magnets and costs are lower than with neodymium bonded magnets.
